Whilst all of us now know who Captain Tom is, Michael’s initiative has brought a smile to the faces of his many fans, and in doing so drawn attention to the value of theatre to the rest of the nation with his obvious quality and charisma shining through to a new generation. He doesn’t just have a powerful vocal, but also a powerful voice.
The ripple effect of this iconic song reaching number one, again, and the hauntingly now iconic lyric has united so many.
